Shkodra Lake by BikeGo Back
A gentle ride through a picturesque landscape, Lake Shkodra
What To Expect
A pleasant bike ride from Shiroka to Zogaj along the shores of Shkodra Lake are the best views of the lake we can offer. We will cycle on the south shore of the lake below Mount Tarabosh.
In Shiroka we will talk a bit about about the history of these two villages and other places of local interest. Then we will continue on to the isolated fishing village of Zogaj where you have the opportunity to visit a group of local women who make their living weaving traditional carpets. During communism this village was in the no-mans land between Albania and Yugoslavia.
If the heat is getting to you, you can strip down and jump in the lake for a refreshing swim near Zogaj, a quiet village at the end of the road far from the noise of Shkodra.
This biking activity will take about 4 hours and we will visit two of the most picturesque villages on the lake. Shiroka (3km from Shkoder) a summer escape destination for shkodrans and Zogaj (7km further) a unique village where man make their living by fishing and women work with handmade tapestry.
The cycling will be about 20 km (round trip) along a smooth, level, and recently paved road. Anyone in decent physical condition will enjoy the trip, as we make several stops to enjoy the sites on the way.
